Devotions During Lent
A Hebrew Catholic Perspective
Lent is a very special time, and opportunity for increase in grace, like the forty years of the Israelites in the wilderness. For forty years, fasting and striving as Christ did, we are going to renew the spiritual journey of Israel from Egypt into the Promised Land.
Psalm 91 is the Lenten Psalm; it shows divine providence guiding and protecting us on our way to Heaven, amid the trials and temptations of this life. (Laymen’s Daily Missal)
From Psalm 91
You who dwell in the shelter of the Most High, who, abide in the shadow of the Almighty,
Say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”…..
For to his Angels he has given command about you, that they guard you in all your ways.
Upon their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
