Note: We close our collection of Old Testament Scriptural paraphrases with an explanation of the tradition of Hanukkah, and the beautiful role it performs as a transition towards the fulfilment of the Temple in the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ. The story of Hanukkah though not taken directly from Scripture, incorporates our readings taken from First Maccabees and illustrates how God uses miracles to restore the joy and intimacy of His Presence among His People. The other readings which follow show the transition into the Messianic Era.
